Christmas Jumper Day

SILLY JUST GOT SERIOUS!

Friday 16th December 2016 sees a whole host of celebrities including James Corden, Fleur East, Myleene Klass, Jon Snow, Jack Whitehall and Conor Maynard support the return of Save the Children’s Christmas Jumper Day

This year, Save the Children’s annual Christmas Jumper Day is taking place on Friday 16th December.

Silliness will be sweeping the nation as schools, homes and offices across the country will be ditching their day-to-day dress for as daft as they dare for Save the Children.

From technicolour festive knits festooned with reindeer antlers, turning up to date night dressed like a figgy pudding and spending hours in front of the mirror trying to balance their baubles,  we’re expecting everyone to take their silliness very seriously this Christmas Jumper Day!

This year, a whole host of celebrities are co-knitted to Christmas Jumper Day. James Corden, Jack Whitehall, Fleur East, Myleene Klass, Jess Wright, Jon Snow, Freddie Flintoff, Jamie Redknapp, Claire Richards, Ashley Jensen, Conor Maynard, Sophie Ellis Bextor, Wretch 32 and Rylan Clark. have all popped on a pullover to mark their support for the campaign.

The best bit is that all this silliness has a serious purpose. By sticking on a daft sweater, signing up and donating £2 to Save the Children (£1 if you’re at school) at christmasjumperday.org, you’ll be saving children’s lives, and helping the charity do whatever it takes to make sure the world’s forgotten children get the chance to have a brighter future.

If your festive sweater from last year just isn’t silly enough, why not head to your nearest Save the Children store where we’re calling out for people to donate their unwanted Christmas jumpers? You could also pick up an even sillier sweater at the same time!

This year, as the headline sponsor of Christmas Jumper Day, Papa John’s will dough-nate™ 50p to Save the Children for every XXL pizza sold, including its limited edition festive pizza. This promotion will run from 21st November 2016 to 2nd January 2017. And to help people get into the woolly spirit Papa John's will be creating giant pizzas made entirely from jumpers in key locations around the country! Dates and locations to follow.

To celebrate Christmas Jumper Day WHSmith will stock two Christmas Jumper Day bears called Benji and Bruno. The bears, who are sporting their very own festive knits, will be sold in WHSmith High Street stores across the UK and online from 3rd October, retailing for £4.99 with £1 being donated to Save the Children for every bear sold.

All money raised through your woolly-wearing could help give a child living in a refugee camp clothes to keep them warm through winter, help us buy nutritious food for their entire family, or set up a safe space to give children the chance to be children again. It could also help us bring essentials like healthcare, education, protection and food to the millions of children around the world who are missing out on the most basic support. All this, just by wearing a daft jumper – it’s a very silly way to solve some very serious problems!
