Fussel Fine Food and Lesley Waters, Rapeseed Oil

Fussels Fine Foods joins forces with the Lesley Waters Cookery School

Award-winning Somerset producer Fussels Fine Foods has teamed up with the Lesley Waters Cookery School to launch the first ever single estate Cold Pressed Extra Virgin Rapeseed Oil in a spray bottle – a store cupboard essential.

Somerset farmer Andy Fussell developed the spray after discussions with Lesley Waters at her Cookery School in rural Dorset.  Lesley’s love of food, which is clean, fresh-tasting and healthy, as well as her commitment to using local ingredients and supporting local producers, meant that this new venture was a natural fit. The oil has just two calories per single spray and is low in saturated fat, so it is a useful addition to the cook’s pantry.  

Lesley comments: “Fussels Rapeseed Oil is fantastic for lots of reasons. It’s a very versatile oil in the kitchen, I use it for everything from dressings to mayonnaise, for baking, light frying, roasting, batter puddings, stir frying...the list goes on.

“It was good fun working with Fussels on the spray oil Andy is great and it’s lovely to meet someone so passionate about the work they do. We love the final design and can’t wait to see it on shelf and start using it in the school.”

Andy Fussell started producing his rapeseed oil in 2007 when he set up Fussels Fine Foods. Andy ensures all the goodness and natural flavours of the oil are preserved by cold pressing his rapeseed just once – nothing is added.

Lesley Waters

Background information…
Andy creates recipes using his Rapeseed Oil with the addition of other locally sourced ingredients.  For example, Fussels’ Cold Pressed Chilli Rapeseed Oil – which won an award for innovation this year – uses 'Deer's Leap' Chillies grown by a neighbouring Somerset Farmer – it is highly recommended drizzled over pizzas and salads, and used in marinades.  Andy has also developed a (local) Beer & Horseradish Sauce, which delivers a real punch and will liven up most things, Garlic Rapeseed Oil, Classic and Mint Mayonnaises - great on hot sausages or lamb chops – and English Herb Dressing, Peppered Watercress and Quince & Cider Dressing.
