#ThoughThatCounts Lush

This Christmas it really is the thought that counts - and we’ve thought it all through on your behalf. So now your Christmas can be stress-free, guilt-free, waste-free and full of Lush loveliness.
As well as bringing back some festive favourites, Lush have created brand new products to make you feel extra special from top to toe. Lush have improved their formulas, too: this year’s Christmas body lotions contain no preservatives, and they have removed all the glitter from our products and
replaced it with environmentally friendly lustres.
As always, Lush has put a lot of thought into their Christmas gifts collection – from the fabulous packaging, to the carefully selected products inside. Did you know that the amount of wrapping paper used each Christmas in the UK alone could stretch around the equator nine times?
This year the Lush gifts team have made sure that they won’t be contributing to the waste as all our packaging is recycled, recyclable or reusable.

You’ll find amazing and innovative boxes; cones inspired by traditional German schultüte, or ‘school cones’; and fabric knot-wraps. The traditional gifts are wrapped in beautifully designed paper that you won’t want to throw it away.
Some of the paper Lush use is made from recycled t-shirts, while the tissue paper in the top of our cone-shaped gifts is made from Lokta, a fast-growing plant found in the Himalayan foothills. All the rest of our paper and card is 100% recycled.

Knot-wraps Inspired by the Japanese art of Furoshiki (a kind of traditional wrapping cloth) Lush have wrapped some of their gifts in reusable fabric wraps: knot-wraps!
These are a gorgeous, waste-free alternative to conventional paper, scissors and tape. The beauty of knot-wrapping is that it’s easy, there are lots of different ways to tie it up, and whoever receives their knotwrapped gift will be able to use it again and again.

In Lush's first year of knot-wrap we sold 44,000 scarves and saved 6.6 tonnes of waste paper/box/ribbon/shredded paper.

Many of Lush's festive knot-wraps this year are Greenspun, which is a fabric made from recycled plastic bottles; others are made from organic cotton by Re-Wrap, a co-operative in India that empowers local women by offering them training and employment. Some of their  wraps feature bespoke designs by artists whilst others have been created for specific gifts, like the whole Frosty family.

Good gifts We all know that it’s what inside that counts – especially at Christmas. Rip open Lush's gifts with innovative packaging and you’ll find our wonderful bath, body, shower and hair products.

Lush have put a lot of thought into making them great: all their ingredients (like essential oils and fresh fruit) are ethically and sustainably sourced and all of our bath bombs, bath melts, bubble bars and soaps are unpackaged and preservative free. What’s more, they never, ever use ingredients that have been tested on animals.
